Kirkmaiden
Information Centre
Kirkmaiden
Information Centre, situated in Drummore, was opened in February
1978 as a result of the efforts of local farmers and business
people. Its aim is to promote Drummore and the Parish of Kirkmaiden
by providing a service to visitors to this beautiful area.

Visitors
are provided with the usual tourist information, concentrating
mainly on the local area, but there is also information given
by the Dumfries and Galloway Tourist Board as well as from
around and about Dumfries and Galloway.
Bus,
train and ferry timetables and tide tables for fishermen are
all available at the Centre, along with accommodation guides,
eating out, local gardens, golf courses, fishing spots, beaches
and walks.
There
is a list of the birds and wild flowers you can see in the
area. The geology is covered by maps and articles as well
as archeology.
A large
Family History section has been built up and those who seek
their roots in this area will be well served here.
This
facility is run entirely by volunteers and the Centre relies
on small contributions from visitors for the service that
is provided. Grants are sometimes made available from various
bodies to improve these facilities.
- The
Centre is open mid-May to mid-September, from 10am until
4pm, Monday to Saturday and on Sunday from 1.30 to 4pm.
- You
can contact the Centre by telephone: 01776 840218
or by email: kirkmaideninfo@whsmithnet.co.uk.
