Logan Fish Pond & Marine Life Centre

In 2000, the Marine Life Centre (Logan Fish Pond) celebrated its Bicentennial, 1800 – 2000.

In 1788 Andrew McDouall Laird of Logan decided to create a Fish Larder for storing live sea fish by adapting a natural rock formation on the shore. The work took 12 years and was finished in 1800.

Recent additions to the original pond include Touch Pools, Cave Aquarium and Gift Shop. The Victorian Bathing Hut and Pool adjacent to the pond is also now open for viewing.

Visitors can enjoy exploring the touch pools, find out what a starfish feels like and what it eats.

Many varieties of sea urchins and fish can be seen. These are all originally from the waters in and around Port Logan.

  • Logan Fish Pond is open:
daily from 1st March until the end of October each year.
  • There is ample free parking, picnic areas and a gift shop.
  • Coach parties are welcome by appointment.
  • Dogs allowed when not too busy.
