Lighthouse Exhibition Print E-mail

The Mull of Galloway lighthouse exhibition is housed in the former fuel store, workshop and engine room to the right of the tower.

The exhibition opened its doors for the first time on Good Friday 2009, after much hard work from a team of volunteers. The exhibition can be found at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse Complex, to the right of the actual Lighthouse tower. Entrance is via the main gate.

The opening hours for the exhibition are from 10.00am and 4.00pm seven days a week during the season.

Pride of place is the lens from McArthur Head lighthouse, which was upgraded to an automatic light in 1969. The lens has been loaned to the exhibition by the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses located in Frazerburgh.

The museum has been instrumental in providing advice and expertise for the display of many artefacts, many of them original to The Mull of Galloway that they have so kindly supplied on loan.
The owners of the lighthouse, The Northern Lighthouse Board, have supported the Trust over the past few years of planning the exhibition, and they, prior to the opening of the exhibition, fully decorated and wired the three rooms.

There is a small admission charge to either the exhibition or the tower.
