A High Commendation for the Mull of Galloway Trust
The Mull of Galloway Trust was awarded a High Commendation in the Nature Tourism Category at the recent RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards in Edinburgh.
The fifth annual Nature of Scotland Awards presentation dinner was held on 24 November 2016 at the prestigious Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh.
Hosted by wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham and presented with Euan Mcllwraith, BBC Reporter, the awards celebrated Scottish conservation’s outstanding success stories.
The event brought together around 300 key decision-makers and supporters involved in Scotland’s nature conservation industry. There were eight award categories – each one recognising a different aspect of conservation work. The Mull of Galloway Trust was shortlisted in the Community Initiative Award and the Nature Tourism Award.
Alison Smith and Dianne James represented the Trust at the awards ceremony and were delighted to receive the High Commendation on behalf of the Trust.
Maureen Chand, Chairperson of the Mull of Galloway Trust said she was “” very pleased that the Trust were shortlisted for the awards as it gives credence to the work being carried out by the local community and all the partners involved in the project at the Mull of Galloway. I am absolutely delighted that the Trust had received this High Commendation in the Nature Tourism Category. It is recognition of a community led initiative and partnership working for the benefit of not only the local community but also for the many visitors to the Mull of Galloway.”
