Vehicle Enthusiasts at the Mull of Galloway
Last weekend the Mull of Galloway welcomed the Solway Vehicle Enthusiasts Club with around 30 iconic vehicles arriving at the lighthouse at the end of their road run from Dumfries. The weather was wonderful and the crowds gathered to welcome the vehicles to Scotland’s most southerly point.
Vehicles included VW Campers, VW Beetles, Ford Focus RS and ST and a vintage coach. The vehicles were displayed on the grass within the lighthouse walls for a couple of hours providing the perfect photo opportunity for visitors. Many visitors took the opportunity for a “birds eye view” of the vehicles from the top of the lighthouse.
Mull of Galloway Lighthouse staff were asked to judge the vehicles at the end of the day and trophies were awarded to VW Beetles, a VW Camper Van and a Pembleton Grasshopper SS three wheeler.
The road run was organised by the club as a charity fund raiser for the Moffat branch of McMillan Cancer in memory of a devoted committee member, Scott Little, who sadly lost his battle with cancer this year. The 2016 event at the Mull of Galloway will take place on Sunday 25th September 2016.
The Dumfries and Galloway Classic Car Club make their way to the Mull of Galloway on Sunday 4th October 2015, arriving at the lighthouse around 1pm. There are another 20 vehicles expected giving visitors to the Mull of Galloway Experience another opportunity to view classic and iconic vehicles before the end of the 2015 season.
