At the top of the lighthouse

Mull of Galloway LighthouseThe Mull of Galloway Trust and Northern Lighthouse Board are working together to offer couples an opportunity to hold their wedding ceremony at the top of the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. We can now offer non-religious humanist ceremonies in the lantern room or the balcony at the top of the tower for couples or for small intimate wedding parties. We are awaiting approval from the Registrar of Scotland for the top of the lighthouse to be an authorised venue for civil ceremonies. The lighthouse was built by Robert Stevenson and was first lit on 26th March 1830. The tower stands 26 metres high and the light is 99 metres above sea level. The light remains operational and has a nominal range of 28 nautical miles. This is one of the few operational lighthouses where you can get married. Climb the 115 steps to the top of the tower. Take your vows with endless coastal views towards Ireland, Isle of Man, Cumbria and Scotland. to discuss your romantic, intimate and personal wedding at the top of the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.

Indoor and outdoor weddings at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse

For lovers of lighthouses and engineering we can hold ceremonies inside the engine room next to the Kelvin Diesel Engines that once powered the Mull of Galloway Fog Horn. We can even provide a demonstration of the engines for your wedding party.

Alternative indoor space for your wedding ceremony is located inside the RSPB Visitor Centre on the reserve and this room can be decorated to suit your requirements and can seat up to 25 people.

We have a choice of outdoor space available on the lawn by the side of the lighthouse, in the courtyard by the lighthouse or in the walled garden with spectacular sea views.
